+1 for Embody. Had an Aeron. Pretty comfortable. Broke. Steelcase Leap after that. Durable. Had many years. Hadn't sat in for days on end until pandemic. Was killing my lower back. Ordered an Embody without having sat in one before. It

Paw's great for figuring out someone else's poorly documented API. Sure I could code up the equivalent, but not going to waste cycles reinventing a tool that pays for itself in less than an hour of saved time

It's notionally similar in that at b-school you read the case and then discuss in class, but in practice it's a very different activity. Real doc reviews at Amazon are far more rigorous.

Oregon's case is that Oracle claimed their products worked together and could be merely configured to suit +95% of the state's requirements. That proved to be untrue. (It always does with COTS software, but it's the siren

The article doesn't really explain this very well, but the Chinese consulate is in the middle of BFE in NYC -- it's out on the West Side Hwy in no man's land. This is as much about location as complexity/UX. To get to the business idea part

Indeed -- I remember multiple firms trying to do the exact same thing on mothballed cruise ships during the height of the dotcom bubble (v1).

I'd disagree. The OS's capabilities are actually pretty good imo. I used my wife's HTC Trophy for a few weeks and was a bit bummed to go back to my iPhone. The apps story is night and day though -- there just aren't as many high quality app

It's not, but pointing to DC as an example that gun laws don't work ignores a number of significant factors; specifically, the fact that guns are easily purchased just outside of the District's small expanse. NYC's another interesting data

The current version isn't browser-specific. You could add user-agent headers pretty easily. The existing C# code might compile with limited effort on Mono.

Agree, very easy once I was able to git out of my own way. Haven't really done much with it yet, but this is what Azure should be in terms of a developer experience. I'll be interested to see the AH guys evolve the service and start to get

Don't listen to the naysayers, this is a great idea and it is an industry primed for disruption. It's a total effing scam. But I agree with others. The DIY version is only one angle... we paid for ours (through the nostrils), but if there w

We're just pinballing around looking for a silver bullet here. The reality is we save and invest too little and purchase too much from abroad. Like fnid says, the way to address the problem is a function of changing American behavior and in

If I want to buy something development and execution architecture based, I'm happy to buy that from MSFT since they've done exceedingly well there. How many sites out there have been running on google and amzn's dev/exec arch's the past 10

H/w vendors are only cut out if MSFT invents a replacement for metal. Granted, utility computing in the cloud is about squeezing more utilization and value out of a given piece of h/w, so it's not without impact. You might perceive this as

My guess would be that if you've never had trouble keeping things running either they're not real complicated or you don't have a lot of users. And that statement applies to any technology/platform. If you build things long and big enough

Yahoo was in the headlights before. Now they're just roadkill. I think a MSFT+YHOO merger would have been massive fail, but it's Microsoft that ends up dodging the bullet here. Yahoo just takes one. Where exactly is Yahoo relevant anymore?
