Umm, the hiring companies. Job boards are one of the most monetizable industries

I imagine its a fairly difficult undertaking nowadays. Your best bet is to probably use Mailgun or similar for the actual sending and let them deal with the reputation management headaches

They were truly one of the first frameworks to give a hoot about developer experience

Aim higher. With the market as it is now you can make 110+ per hour as a subcontractor, doing work not much different than a regular employee. Can make much more if you can find your own clients. You can even try to set non “fulltime” hours

What do you think? To make more money of course, which is the whole point of businesses.

Yeah from the outside looking in, to me the biggest requirement is one of mindset, thinking like an attacker, thinking of all the possibilities… in that sense very much like the qualities for a good QA person

There’s Teams, Slack, and Discord… what else would you like to see from a competitor? Lemme guess, not Electron based?

Not if you want that level of comp (Sorry if you were already aware and are saying more along the lines of "money isn't everything", but I wanted to make the point)

I don’t know what your full situation is, but if possible highly recommend you start taking steps to give yourself more options/breathing room Start saving a cushion for yourself/your family. Start with a month, then try to get to

It’s not an either/or. Having a good nest egg gives you the option of working less or working on something more fulfilling (that still generates income)

I don’t know what your partner/family situation is - I feel like I could easily wind down my spending and comfort level, but I don’t want to put my partner through that. I think in most cases this is the constraining factor

I’m sorry, yes, any dev can build a product, but is it something people will pay money to buy? That is 90% of the problem. If you have to do support, count yourself lucky cause that means you actually have customers

I often say that high dev salaries are both a blessing and a curse for entrepreneur-minded devs. The opportunity cost and bar for success can be insanely high

Astroturfing as in hopping into a group and creating a post promoting your product? Have you ever seen that actually work? Almost every subreddit I see bans any kind of promotion and even posting of links.

This exists in some areas for example the closer Chicago “suburbs” like Lakeview There the lot sizes aren’t big so there’s density, but at the same time no high rises so it still feels pleasant. And every few blocks is zoned commercial

Have you tried to get a < 40 hrs/wk full-time job, to get the benefits but do less hours? If so, how has that been?

> the biggest myth with apps today is "if you build it, they will come" Are there really people who still think that? I thought it was common knowledge that market knowledge, sales, and marketing are an order of magnitude more

This right here. Tell them to carve it out or even return a signed version where you've done the redactions yourself. Tell them that non-work time is your own time and that previous employers have been willing to waive this requirement
