That was a pretty interesting read. My take is that you can get pretty far these days with a simple bytecode interpreter. Food for thought if your side project could benefit from a DSL!

I still think Class components provided an easier mental model for most developers compared to functional components. Hooks specially feel very error-prone by comparison.

Good article. Regarding AoS vs SoA, I'm curious about the impact in JS engines. I believe it would be a significant compute performance difference in favor of SoA if you use typed arrays.

I think Meteor is finally starting to fully overcome the tech debt from the second half of the last decade. They're in a recent Node.js release, and the next version will integrate a modern bundler (Rspack) in its tooling. Lots of apps

I wonder if we'll see Podman running on Illumos at some point. SmartOS does currently support running Dockerized programs if I remember correctly.

While I tend to agree with your position, it sounds like they built a system in less than 2 weeks that was immediately useful to the organization. That sounds like a win to me, and makes me wonder if there were other ways in hindsight that

Surely it would be better if console makers gave users freedom to control the device, rather than smartphones not being in the users' control either. Unfortunately, the copyright lobby of the video game industry was too strong in the 7
