Genuinely curious - while Methane is a far more potent greenhouse gas, isn’t its half life in the atmosphere only 9 years? Wouldn’t this make it far less concerning than CO2 with its half life of 120 years? Looking for serious answers.

To be fair, everyone knew that Amazon's "Other" category was almost entirely advertising in previous reports. I think that the market is happy for three reasons: 1. Algorithms misreading the high earnings ($11.8B out of the $

No - both you and the OP miss the real problem. The problem with Psych is that you can't really experiment on humans in a meaningful way. Animal studies for example don't suffer the same replication problems as psych.

The problem is of course, that Facebook is directly threatened by TikTok, while Google has a much stronger hold on its market segments. Google could continue growing, while Facebook actually shrinks.

No. The real reason behind the losses is that TikTok became the number 1 app in the world today, and is directly taking away social engagement time from Instagram and Facebook. Heck, Zuckerberg admitted it himself in a post today: "[..

Because it limits the content to only people who read enough NYT to be worth the subscription cost to them. It doesn't match most people's use case of bumping into a NYT article once in a while.

This is another good trait of the reddit sorting - much better to fight misinformation. With that said, jokes and wholesome comments do bubble up to the top quickly.

I’d argue that YouTube simply implemented a Reddit like sorting mechanism. The top comments on a YouTube video are very similar to Reddit. When you optimize for engagement (e.g. Facebook’s sorting), you get toxicity. When you optimize for ap

Starship would supposedly fit the unfolded mirror as a single piece. There has been discussion in actually using starship itself as the structure for a future telescope.

This could make the entire org/company run and innovate much slower. Ideally you can build better models that predict long term conversion from short term data. These models can be refined with long term experiments.

Your point is not specific for ads and completely ignores the dynamics of reviews. Your app will immediately receive a ton of 1 star reviews for misleading the users.

In the evolution of life there are events that appear to be difficult, and events that appear to be easy: 1. The creation of life seems to be easy as the first life appeared very close to earth formation, in a very hostile environment (unle

While sad as a whole, the responsiveness of evolution is beautiful in this case. It also demonstrates that human efforts to stop poaching have not been successful (otherwise this evolution wouldn’t happen), but luckily, nature responds.

That’s not how it works. Increasing the interest rate will not increase the existing debt cost. The problem is that we are issuing new debt to pay off the old debt, and that new debt is using the new interest rate.

To bet on Hyperinflation you don’t only need to bet the rapid devaluing of currencies, but also bet that the government would do nothing to stop it. Which seems ridiculous to me given how easy it is (raising interest rate)
