Putting API contracts aside, the problem is also that people use a package manager as if it was a code snippet manager. As in, "how do I check if a string starts with a shebang" should result in some code being pasted in your edit

Yes, it works the same. Since mpv 0.34 it even looks for yt-dlp first, and fallback to youtube-dl otherwise. Before that you had to set an option, or just symlink youtube-dl to yt-dlp.
