Probably just because of the larger number I'd say.

It does work in gmail. Jetstar, an Australian air travel company, uses this technique (IIRC) and it works fine in gmail.

Depends who owns the company you spend the $100k with. They'd need to pay 30% tax on their income, leaving a net outlay by the government of $15k (15%) overall.

AFAIK, the tax is only applied when the value is realised (i.e. sold/liquidated). I wouldn't have thought just holding bitcoins would be grounds for taxation.

Exactly, there was a strong amateur community with excellent content before ads were anything more than blogrolls and cross linking. Without ads, maybe we lose some of the purely commercial sites, but I'm completely sure that strong co

Seems to be licensed on a "per core" basis from Monotype. Perhaps I'm missing something, but that makes no practical sense to me. Typography.com's model of per site licensing is much more understandable.

While I won't be downloading the data to my own server, I have no issue with others analysing it nor with reading analyses by those folks. Especially ones like this one, which is essentially anonymous. As long as the action stops at an

A focus on excessive procedure at the expense of real progress, unless there's a pressing need (like war), would be my guess too.

I use Mandrill with Mailpoet (wp plugin), and have nothing but good things to say about them. You didn't ask, but we compared them with AWS, and the big problem with AWS was that we had to throttle our own SMTP output. Mandrill will ra

How can you say you'd recommend them, when the only way you got any real support was via public shaming? And for the account to be closed based on multi country logins, without any kind of verification with you, is absolutely insane.

Very cool! Any thoughts about making it two-way at some point? For example, make sure that every network is updated if you change your name or email address.

The purpose is the getting of the thing, or the being at the place. The point is that not everything you do needs to have a _higher_ purpose.

If they're promoting such small numbers, I wonder if it's lack of interest rather than process issues.

That seems like treating the symptom, not the problem. How will insurance or registration stop cyclists from getting hit by cars? It hasn't stopped cars from hitting each other.

I'm also a non-American, and it wasn't sarcasm. I think the privileged label is overused these days (esp online), but the way I see it is that I've (apparently) got it slightly easier than a black person. Doesn't mean I

Thanks for your response mate. I'm not American, so it's hard for me to tell what's going on in your society. My parents were fairly poor, although they never really let us kids feel like it at the time. But yes we did have a

So, as someone who is a privileged class of the majority (white, male, 25-49), what are the roadblocks? If there's discrimination, isn't that purely the fault of the Y Combinator organisers (in this instance), and is this article

So if mesh networks take off, and replace mobile internet for many people, are we going to see an increase in satellite and "traditional" mobile networking (3G, 4G, etc) prices? How is that going to affect folks outside major metr

Really like it, love the vision simulation too. One small suggestion to improve: having an option to see all of the vision simulations at once would be incredibly useful.
