You can get it for $513. https://gpdstore.net/laptops/gpd-micropc-2/

The GPD Micro PC 2 is still pretty cheap. The other models are way way faster so it's not surprising they cost more.

Some of them are UMPCs, some are sub-notebooks and some arguably are maybe netbooks. The GPD Micro PC 2 is not that fast and only has a 7" screen like the original Asus EEE PC. It's got less bezel, so perhaps it bleeds the line be

Sort of. Technically the Ryzen 5 AI 340 has 3 Zen 5 cores and 3 Zen 5c cores. They are more similar than the power/efficiency cores of Apple/Intel but 5c cores are more power efficient.

That's a NAS. Just get a 2 bay NAS.

They're pretty rare, but there's some. https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2025/mini-nases-marry-nvme... You can also get larger ones like the Asus Flashstor that can do 12.

Download Power Toys and use Awake. Will keep the screen on if you want.

Somewhat unfair since it's technically a tablet, but the Surface Pro webcam is very very good.

The MBA screen is /alright/. It's better than a lot of Windows machines but you can get better for the price for sure. I'd argue the screens in the Surface line are comparable and arguably better, 3:2, brighter, 120Hz at

The fun thing about grammar is if enough people do it and think it's correct, it's correct. Languages change.

It is a separate skill from reading, but I think it's still useful. At the very least learn the strokes of common radicals. In my experience things like denshi jishos can be VERY picky about how you input them. It makes word lookup muc

I think my favorite thing of not even piracy, just ripping my DVDs, is the ability to watch a random episode of a show. There's some shows like The Simpsons that I don't want to watch in production order any more, nor do I want to

It's not irrelevant. How much is Apple really making off Mac game sales from the MAS? Compared to the MAS, Epic is a good launcher for games. Take a look at CP2077. On the MAS you can't just download the language you need, you hav

Except for the handful of Mac ports exclusive to the Mac App Store, who with a lick of sense would choose to buy from there? Steam, GoG and Epic are all more feature rich, have more often sales/3rd party resellers and throw in the PC v

Not as good but there's loads of devices with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with 64-128GB of RAM.

MST makes getting a dock cheaper. It's very cheap to get a hub or dock that can do two or even three monitors over MST, with power pass through and a few extra USB ports for a mouse and keyboard or printer. Like $30-$50. Maybe you spen

I mean there was Windows on ARM laptops previously. The first Snapdragon 835/8cx/7c Windows laptops predate the M1 lineup. They certainly weren't POPULAR or FAST but they existed. https://www.cnet.com/reviews&

Yeah, I don't have one but it is tempting. I was thinking maybe of using Kmonad or something to turn the ; key into some sort of layer shift if I got one. But I'm already pretty used to using key layers. I think they did it that w

GPD has some. Particularly the GPD Pocket 4. 8.8" Notebook with a AMD HX 370 processor and up to 64GB RAM. Can even work as a KVM.

I remember FINALLY getting RCT1 from Scholastic Book Club and then a few months later got RCT2 from a cereal box. Was nuts. Easily the best cereal box thing ever.

No. But what x86/x64 support that is available on Windows/Linux isn't as slow as you might think.

by goosedragons 1y ago
It's not just for games. FEX-EMU is used here alongside Wine/Proton to run games but it'll also run the x64 version of other things. There's other layers like Box64 that do the same thing. For Linux, a lot of the softwar

What is "real UNIX" these days? I'm not sure it's that big a pro anymore. Outside MacOS who is using "real UNIX" and not Linux? It's just different enough to cause problems if you're not careful.

Also former fat guy here. I absolutely have not had that experience. I have easily maintained being fat (or even gained) while running 15-20k a week and walking everywhere. It's only when I actively moderate my eating have I lost weigh

I'm pretty sure they're still popular outside of the western world. At least for some things. eBay is filled with bootleg DVDs of Anime, TV shows, etc. There is no official Simpsons Season 21+ DVDs for example and yet they are not

You can turn those off in Settings, System -> Notifications -> Additional Settings -> Check box for suggestions to get the most out of Windows. So scummy they hide it there though.
