They (Uber and Lyft) radically reduce drunk driving in every city they enter. They also radically simplify access to transportation for people of color, women, etc.

Uber is kicking their teeth in. I would be very surprised if Lyft is still around in 5 years.

Really odd comment sentiments here. I fail to see how this is a good thing as opposed to alarming.

This seems far less like a revenue stream and far more of a way to get people to use Google Maps less. I am sure they have data showing that very many Uber trips in most major American cities starts with a comparison against local public tr

But logic is composed of a particular set of axioms and rules - so is not any thing composed of a set of such things itself constrained by the very nature of its parts?

+1 It is odd to think of someone "using" or "misusing" Godel - if the points are salient and clear, how is it misuse? (At least, in this case, where GEB is a philosophical text, not a scientific one.)

Your comment shows a clear lack of contextual insight into general software security. Alice (A) and Bob (B) are ubiquitous in discussions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_and_Bob

This comment feels like a markov chain wrote it. Do you really find parallels between this anecdote and reality? What if we presented an anecdote of the opposite to you, would you change your worldview entirely? If not, why should anyone wh

For those saying this IPO is happening now due to market slowdown, Uber's CEO has been speaking of a 2019 IPO for a while[1]. I am not an investment banker, to me this seems far more pre-planned than a last minute rush before a heavy c

Sure, but something about the echo of the sound of salesmen makes the whole thing a measurable deal worse. At least, enough for me to be put off by it - if only a tad. If the sole aim was to educate and inform, leaving the sales pitch off

Please do not conflate GPS with navigation. There is a massive set of problems you can solve with high fidelity GPS Data (Uber knows it is a driver in a car, verifies it with another GPS entity (rider app reports GPS also), etc). There is n
