Inngest engineer here! We started with the TypeScript SDK to help us stay focused while we iterated and learned. As Tony said, we'll gradually expand to other languages (likely Python in the near future too!). As for your "REST AP

> ... if people can’t respond to vendors they pay money to, we’re really at a loss. You're hurting your company's reputation by denigrating your customers like that

Yes, because the price of oil would go up and there'd be more incentive to reduce oil consumption

Yea! We got a sneak peak of this in the Inngest community server :)

How would code review work if everyone is committing and pushing? The article must mean tiny, short-lived branches

I’m in the Apple walled garden and it’s nice. It’s expensive, but it’s nice

I used Phabricator at a previous (non-Meta) company. It was better than GitHub in some ways but worse in others. Overall I didn’t mind it

The US spends $800 billion per year on their military. The fact that some high value tech has come out of the military doesn’t justify it. Should we never question the spending?

“Military spending is good for the economy” is basically the same as the broken window fallacy. There’s a massive opportunity cost

Inngest engineer here! Agreed that alerting is important! We alert on job failures, plus we integrate with observability tools like Sentry. For DLQs, you're right that they have value. We aren't killing DLQs but rather rethinking

Criticism phrasing is important. Just because someone asks for feedback doesn't mean they're OK with an abrasive tone. Bugs happen -- I'm sure they didn't intend for the experience to be that way

We’re still really early in the AR/VR space. Hardware is bulky and expensive but that’ll change over time. Eventually we’ll have lightweight, high-fidelity, reasonably-priced hardware and AR/VR usage will be common

Same. Overall, I like GitLab a lot more than GitHub. I wonder how much of GitHub's popularity is buoyed by its status as the defacto home for OSS

I agree 99%, but sometimes a tool is such a huge productivity boost that it’s worth installing. Fzf is one of those tools for me. If I had to deal with CSV files a lot then xsv would be worthwhile

The anti package.json sentiment seems too puritanical. Sure there are downsides to it but I've rarely had a negative experience with it

Why is "too much money" a thing? If a bank only wants $100 million in deposits, but customers deposit $150 million, why can't the bank set the extra $50 million to the side and pretend like it doesn't exist until custome

I've played a lot of Skylines but it doesn't quite feel like a SimCity. I think it has a dearth of quirkiness (e.g. it has 0 llamas)

Nice, I think kw_only=True and slots=True solve a lot of my dataclass problems. Wish they defaulted to true

I didn’t mean “always use Pydantic instead of dataclasses”. I meant “dataclasses have a default property problem but it’s solvable since Pydantic handles them well”

Extend from pydantic.BaseModel instead of using the dataclasses decorator

Looks like that works but it’s unintuitive. Pydantic can handle this situation without the weird KW_ONLY thing, so dataclasses should too

Dataclasses are nice but they have a big downside: extending a dataclass with a default property can raise an error. If you run this code: import dataclasses @dataclasses.dataclass class Base: a: int b: int =
