I feel LaTeX relates to MS Word like OpenScad to FreeCad. The scripting makes making technical parts often much easier, and more maintainable. I for instance wanted to replace a metal rod in an antenna with a smaller diameter, and changing

In my experience, fail2ban does only help if there is a small number of IP addresses requests come from. I usually observed a trickle of requests from huge number of IP addresses, at most 1-2 request from each IP over the course of days. ta

It would be interesting to know why Oracle won. Did they offer more money ? Or is TikTok convinced that Oracle won't be able to do something decent with the acquisition ? Other than start fights with facebook etc over tiktok lookalike

Remember the USPS is rumored to have recently dismantled hundreds of sorting machines. Entirely possible that some old mail was jammed in there somehow. Also, cf. "Going Postal" by Terry Pratchett.

And I would guess you get fewer artifacts - the version linked in a sibling comment with just one end has a lot of factors and yet is not very accurate.

Well of course the thieves have a cost, too -- they need to eat, too. But they probably pay no taxes and employ cheap labor and can undercut the official recycler.

Haha. But yes, maybe, even if it's sad to see the US government at the level of a 6 year old. Well there's 45 days to lobby. Apple will be inconvenienced even by Americans with Chinese background and iphones. A large chunk of them

It would be trivial for the admin to say that Apple only has to block wechat from the US app store, and trivial for Apple to implement it. There's little to gain from blocking wechat in china, so I don't think they will cut in the

Reminds me of Germany in (I guess) the 80s, where police was sometimes checking diesel cars on whether owners had used (lower taxed) heating oil for their cars (which is technically tax evasion). It might still be a thing.
