I recommend the Don Camillo stories from G. Guareschi. It's kind of a balm for when I feel particularly atheist and annoyed at the world at large.

In fact, a lot of somewhat shady spice packets you get at asian groceries in the bay area have a crummy paper sticker with english labeling over the Indian/Chinese/... original label. If this can happen for spices, why not for bab

The article compares with a 15th century word ass-head, but IMO ass-hat is really meaning arse-head, and ass-head refers to the animal, making an ass-head closer to a stupid person, less a detestable and disagreeable one.

Hmm. Just for anecdata: my shaving takes maybe 40-60 seconds with a cartridge I keep about 6 months. Yes, I know, I should be ashamed :)

Sure, but these projects tend to be one-offs or at least small runs where the contract commits to say 10 SLS missions or something like that. Agreed that cost plus for something comparatively cheap like a new army rifle is probably differen

Here's how simple me thinks about it: Cost-plus is just a lazy version of fixed price, where instead of accountants looking at details before new funding is released, there's automatic approval of overruns.

Is the wrong 'righted' though ? He was locked up >30 years, and now was recognized as innocent. Not even sure if that means that his prison time is expunged. How can he be made whole ? Seems almost impossible.

Even .24% isn't that rare. From NIH.gov: "In the United States, a rare disease is defined as a condition that affects fewer than 200,000 people in the US."

I don't get why this is called rare in the article. It's not called that in the actual study, so the article seems to do some editorializing: https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M21-4389 Looks like o

We don't know the background, and the content of the previous mails Google has sent this developer prior to the alleged account disabling. OP conveniently left that information out. Without that, it's hard to draw any conclusions.

Off-topic, but another area where it seems hard to get good answers is what cooking oil is actually best. E.g., palm oil / coconut oil gets hyped lately, but is it really healthy (in a meaningful way)? Is it gentle on the environment (

IMO, the problem is that many of those tools are really not that reliable in the sense that they may go away soon. It all takes a company to be acquired by M$, GOOG etc and then taken offline. For example, I lived through Google Appmaker (a
