I'd disagree. The cost of delivering an arts and history course should be cheaper than say a course requiring a medical-teaching-hospital, a super-computer, wind-tunnel - whatever. If all you need are some great lecturers, you can poac

My favourite idea for fixing the cost of tertiary education, is for universities to "buy a stake in you". i.e. You apply for Course X and the university quotes you Y% of your income for the next Z many years. Say 15% for 15 years

I realize I missed the explanation (piracy stack over the legit options I have). I log and just say "I want to watch this". Similar to how you'd have previously used a Tivo that sat over all your potential TV channels. I turn

TV is dead in the same way CD sales were dead. Anecdotally (yes, just me) - I've built a "whole piracy stack on my NAS" - Sonarr, Radarr, Deluge, NZBGet, Plex, Pushbullet, with paid services for omgwtfnzbs, usenet and oznzb

I miss why this considered bad news. Facebook spent billions pickup up Whats-app and Instagram (and probably a fair chunk developing and maintaining messenger). This wasn't solely to pick up untold millions of new users who'd ne

Yeees - but whilst this might cause most of the world to "tut-tut", in the US this obfuscation between wage and tipping already exists: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tipped_wage I was shocked when I realized

Thanks, you're right, I was being dense. My feeble mind can accept that it's just a replacement board, you can host all your existing chips on.

I don't think I was specifically seeking to contradict anything you said. If it's cost-effective to replace you with a machine, then it's probably going to happen. You can present your shareholders with the nitty-gritty numbe

I'm feeling a little dense - but what's the point of this? I get it's a new board, you can take your chips off your old board and now put them on your new board (which is broken down into component boards). i.e. My understand

I think I disagree. If job roles are arranged like a pyramid (wide base of lower paid jobs, with lower number of higher paid jobs above) - the largest benefit is always going to be automating away the high number of low paid jobs. Amazon mi

Indeed. As I can't find a reference, you can treat this as anecdotal - but there was a radio story about 2 fifteen year old siblings who'd both 'taken up sweatshop work'. One was stitching trainers, one was doing embroid

PTO is a very strange concept for much of the world. I'm in the UK and get work full time and get 25 days holiday to take, plus the national/bank holidays. If I'm sick I take a sick day. If I take a significant number of sick

I agree with every single one of those points. Other thing I'd meant to mention, was that the territory of "wheeled luggage" has expanded. Previously maybe at an airport you'd haul your luggage to a car at the kerb that

So: 1) You allowed your son with the cognitive ability of a 7 year old, access to £3 grand.. I'm going out on a limb here, but I don't think that was wise. I'm unable to even imagine "the correct" way you were wanti
