What the NAISD study and Fauci were talking about is that it accelerates time to recover (seemingly among those who were going to recover anyways), which is a big deal as that increases the hospital throughput.

How does this work with an asset the size of a house? Does having as little as say $5,000 in the house when the the other lender has $200,000 in give you this power to stop foreclosure?

Ahh the old "shareholders are the only thing that matters" argument. Buybacks and dividends are not equivalent, buybacks are tax advantaged in ways that dividends are not. We've allowed numerous companies to get to a size whe

Ethanol is such a disaster. Is there any legitimate reason for ethanol production to be a thing outside of subsidizing mega farmers? Can we just cut them checks instead?

IBM may or may not be a good example, but I think the overall critique holds here. Stock buy backs weren't a thing until a SEC rule change in the 80's, this is a relatively new phenomenon and not intrinsic to a functioning market.

I've been wondering why there hasn't been more programs to test representative samples of individuals, just like a political poll. If I was in a Governor's or Mayor's shoes right now and I know there aren't enough r

Get out of the VC backed world then. Plenty of stodgy old enterprises that make actual useful stuff need good IT talent, and they pay well enough. These environments come with their own set of issues, but I've never felt like I'm

That doesn't mean it didn't come from a lab though. "Coming from a lab" does not = man made. If they were doing research on the bats in this lab, looking to identify potential scary viruses to be ready, it is entirely po

Tucker Carlson did a piece talking about how the bats that this jumped from do not live within ~900km of Wuhan, but that the lab in Wuhan did testing on the bats that they imported. It definitely seems plausible they were doing research on

Current capacity is 500 tests a day from what I've read. That seems awfully low to me, other countries are testing thousands with a much lower population. We need to get these tests rolling out in larger numbers ASAP.

It feels to me like the US as a whole is getting more protectionist over the last decade, and that the free trade everyone is welcome, export to our market for free is seeing some massive attacks. This is a feeling shared by both the left a
