Thinking there can be equivalence between any two words is basically ignoring all I wrote in the previous comment.

Words are lossy. Thinking ambiguity can be removed if you only use common words is misguided. You will get writing that is bland and lacks nuance and you may limit the palette of what you can convey, but even then without a fixed exhaustive

Those assumptions are technically not even in scope of our “hard science”, but if one of those assumptions got “proven true” through whatever means (possible oxymoron) it would have major implications as much of pre-existing hard science wo

My pet peeve is that in this worshipping of science (count me guilty) it’s often forgotten that it is ultimately an attempt to model a system from within itself, and thus will never model it fully and prove that it is correct or even valida

Yes. I reckon “Mocking Bird – Realtime Voice Clone for Mandarin” might’ve been a more appropriate change, but it’s always easy to criticise after the fact…

Speak for yourself if you experienced disappointment. I just clicked through, looked at it and left a note that technical merits aside the title is technically clickbait, that’s all.

This is not about some sort of language leaderboard. If you see the title (as phrased) written in %language%, you’d expect the proposed thing to work in that language. Anyway, as someone else pointed out it’s a fork, so it’s understandable

I disagree that it’d help much, maybe even the opposite. Knowing how to use the language effectively is different from knowing [some mainstream theory of] how it works and various taxonomies of its parts. Similar deal with music: you don’t

1st click to go to the article, ctrl+f to find methodology, 2nd click to go to methodology. See 6000+ people recruited via web. The rest seem to amount to fewer than that. Am I the one being difficult?

To reiterate, the first paper does not specifically pertain to dating apps, and the methodology of the second article is flawed (you want to know whether people meet online, so you ask people of whom >50% you found online, great techniqu

The problem is versioning code as structured data. It is not yet here, but there are very recent advances (Pijul et al). Freed from the shackles of LoC, GUIs can do all sorts of magic with structured.

I don’t know if I’m “wishing for” such environments, I just strongly suspect they will arrive (or they technically should, if they overcome industry’s inertia). ALICE offered structured editing in a world where graphical output was so limit

Initially I thought pixel shift might be the way to go, but stumbling across [0] I got an impression it isn’t necessarily as great as it sounds (and, I guess, neither would be any three-shot RGB-filter-swapping composite). [0] https:/

I’m of two camps. On one hand, I don’t use fonts with ligatures (I use Triplicate by the OP, very happy with it), and usually work without colorful syntax highlighting. The assumption is that code is read more often than it is written, and

I looked at Foveon before, and got the impression that it still effectively relies on RGB separation/recombination, though in a more elegant way than Bayer sensors. (That said, Sigma’s doing some really cool stuff.)

That sounds very interesting. I feel like firmware/hardware automation combo that swaps RGB filters and takes exposures in accord could provide interesting workflows for owners of those monochrome digital cameras.

Interesting. Sadly, I believe the Photoshop approach would not produce a DNG file that you could normally interpret in a raw processor of your choice. Looks like pixel shift cameras (which apparently still use Bayer sensors, just moving the

I wonder if there are ways to get superior (compared to Bayer) color images from conventional raw-capable monochrome digital cameras (like Leica Q2 Monochrom) in static scenes using similar workflows of taking three separate shots.
