Trained scientists are capable of reading any article with a healthy dose of skepticism and does not need to be reminded of this for any paper. All papers have limitations and just because it is published even in a prestigious journal does

I hit _vouch_ for this article because as much as I think we’re all tired of covid articles, this is really about the topic of censorship, cancel culture, big tech/social media, and the politicization of science and academia. I think t

Unlike a zero day, there still remain a number of important factors (haha) to actually break a large number. But crypto systems are special because they rely on trust. The mere sign of weakness is sufficient to kill that trust. A sufficient

I am not an economist, but I know that a deflation can be bad for the economy. People are encouraged to wait rather than spend because the price will be lower if you can hold out a little longer. This can become a positive feedback loop whi

There’s really no true seed unless you have some sort of quantum system. Many are based on sources of noise and are actually somewhat slow. Small IoT devices often have poor generation. A fast source of high quality numbers available to eve

There were no subreddits. There was a sizeable programmer user base that was somewhat academic about Haskell and lisp. I was a grad student at the time and I learned a lot about Functional programming. I remember the political discussion w

Browsing a directory of essentially static artifacts is really slow in nextcloud. Git isn’t the best place to store binaries and assets and we tried nextcloud as an alternative since we are already hosting it.

Elliptic curves are also quite simple. Computing a public key boils down to point addition with a modulus. The private key is a byte string and the quality of it only depends on the random generator. It’s trivially fast to generate 32 bytes
