I don't get this. From the same perspective you can argue global variables have scope too since they are "scoped to the current process". It's not like other processes can access your global variable, that's a very

I think it's ok when the joke is too obvious and it's done as a tradition. E.g. agadmator (a famous chess YT channel) shared a video of one of the most amazing chess games ever played (from 1852) and claimed "Magnus Carlsen [

Tangential question: Not a native speaker but wouldn't "only a few" make more sense than "a few"? The paper title emphasizes the lack of great variety, as does "only a few", but without any more context &q

Agreed but youtube has some valuable content, e.g. if you're into chess, there are some irreplaceably good videos out there. The way I use them is via youtube-dl.

Total layman here. Question: if 5ppm in drinking water is safe, which would imply we deem it safe to drink unlimited amount of water with 5ppm benzene in it for our entire lives; would it really be problematic to use hand sanitizers with 15

I agree with you, although, unfortunately, most -- if not all -- engineers I know would respond to this by complaining about how "a human who can understand the 'why'" cannot be automated.

This is a genuine question, I'm really curious. What if the kid typed something that implies "US is firing nukes to {insert random non-Western country}". What is the probability of something like that escalating?

Accent is an inevitable part of second language speakers. I've lived in US most of my life, but English is not my native language and I started learning it around the age of 5 and at the age of 25 after living here more than 20 years,

I write compilers for fun (hobby) and I just transpile my IR data structure to C++ (I'm also experimenting with other targets like Haskell (similar to agda compiler) and Rust (work in progress)). My friends usually treat this approach
