The example works on my MacBook if I replace gunzip with funzip. Also, I like to see the value. So: curl -s https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-hist.zip | funzip | sqlite3 -csv ':memory:&#

I don't know anything about them as a corporate citizen, but out of the (many) supermarket chains here in France I like them the best. They are not the cheapest, but the quality/price ratio is usually correct and the store branded

How's the health of the battery? Mine is at 96%. I blame my car, since to get CarPlay I have to plug it in and it charges perforce.

While "do not buy" is too strong, I would agree that the Pro seems like a better deal than in other years. This is probably on purpose, a way to nudge people to buy the Pro, which I'm sure has bigger margins. (I still wouldn&

I suspect it's the other way around. Google just has a very good IP geolocation db, so it uses that when you browse, absent any other info.

This is quite interesting: "Your ability to manipulate a phone is based primarily on its mass, but also on its moment of inertia. And since the reduction in mass when switching from stainless steel to titanium is occurring almost entir

Here in France the larger Carrefour stores have another system in addition to the usual self-checkouts. You can grab a scanner at the entrance and scan each item as you take it from the shelf. At the checkout they check a few random items a

This is great as a technical approach, but I would argue that sometimes it's not the right way. Debugging a difficult bug alone takes a lot of time and can be frustrating, especially if you're not familiar with the code base. I fo

Interesting question, but the article doesn’t really answer it. It talks about how long they are supposed to last and about failures, but I didn’t see statistics on the time to failure of actual installations, compared to expectations.

There's nothing really new in this article. These companies hire H1B's all the time. There is no evidence that they are low paid. I was an H1B at [FAANG] and I had a bigger salary and more stock options than most of my teammates (
