I don't think you interpret the Apple case correctly. They got fined for advertising PERM job postings differently from regular job openings, distorting the test in the view of the agency. That has nothing to do with the post you are r

If the labor market test yields a candidate, the petition isn't filed. So there is formally no rejection from the USCIS. But application processes fail at this step all the time.

I need to run some more numbers, but the dismissal of raytracing on performance grounds seems inaccurate to me at first glance. Note that they inflate the number of ray intersections by including shadow tests. That number shrinks dramatical

I don't understand why raytracing is rejected out of hand. It never defines the target hardware range, but the 3080 is very fast at hardware ray tracing. Ray tracing pipeline objects also solve the coupling issue the article complains

QNX is in a space with few competitors. FreeRTOS or ThreadX are designed to provide microcontrollers with scheduling and memory management functionality. They don't depend on fancy things like MMUs or provide frameworks for networking

Since when are social apps high risk? The high risk clause is clearly targeted at applications that have safety requirements (IEC 61508, ISO 26262 etc.). A crashing Twitter client won't injure or kill anyone.

If 5nm semiconductors were essential for some military core capabilities, they'd start building the whole production chain domestically in a hurry at eyewatering cost and probably finish it over budget and 15 years late.

Engineering is about making certain that stuff works before it enters production. If we claim to do software engineering, then that's just a simple part of doing our job. Everything else is just tinkering and hacking (the bad kind).

These two examples come from bad library design, not bad language design. The first one was fixed with ranges. The second one would be fixed if C used an explicit string type in it's standard library.
