It’s essentially a subjective question, but FWIW I disagree. I’ve written quite a bit of JS and quite a bit of TS, and I find TS so much better. I’m more productive, generate fewer bugs, and have more fun when writing it.

Only 5 years too late to prevent us leaving them for AWS RDS and Elastic Beanstalk, where we paid half as much and got a DB with basic security features: no public IP and an SSL cert.

I do! Since I got a 1080p projector, DVDs of recent releases are often noticeable fuzzy, while the Blu-Rays look great. Plus a Blu-Ray off eBay or CeX is usually half the price of 'buying' a film to stream, can be lent to friends

There’s certainly some deeply unscientific thinking out there … but I don’t think your examples are good ones. It’s reasonable to dislike GMOs (or some subset of them) because of who’s selling them and why, unrelated to the science. It’s re

Fellow Brit, strongly disagree. The Europlug feels to me barely less flimsy than the US type. Ours and the Schuko are about the only ones I feel fully safe using.

On this first point — 'Get the Number of Updated and Inserted Rows in an Upsert' — unfortunately this `xmax` method is not always reliable and there does not seem to be any reliable alternative. I posted to pgsql-hackers about thi

It looks to me as if the Republican party is broadly still Trump's: he has a powerful voice and as far as I am aware very few Republican politicians have disavowed him. Can you tell me what important nuance I am lacking here? Perhaps y

I think maybe a Roku Streaming Stick 4K will do everything there except the USB? (I don't have one but have been considering one; I have a 5-year-old LG Blu-Ray player that covers USB and DLNA pretty well).

I think some of this might be cultural. For example, I think self-deprecation may be in general more widely appreciated in the UK than the US (though perhaps this is gradually changing). I’m reminded of Arthur Dent (British) in the Hitchhik

I'd love to use Apple maps for driving directions, but I just can't get used to its mostly-overhead navigation view. I regularly take wrong turnings when following Apple Maps, which almost never happens with Google Maps or TomTom.

Audi seems to be the brand for people who want a VW, but want to pay extra for it. It’s like the mirror image of Skoda or SEAT (VAG’s more ‘budget’ brands).

Yes, if you calculate the depreciation based on getting a pretty good deal rather than paying the list price, the fabled thousands you lose as soon as you drive off the forecourt mostly vanish.

What's nice about that is that if you're not sucked in by the lifestyle branding you can get what's basically a VW — VW, SEAT and Skoda share engines, gearboxes, even most of the knobs and UI — for quite a lot cheaper. SEAT a
