Along with Guix which is often mentioned together with Nix, there's also GoboLinux which has an interesting approach.

I don't think the global profile should be setting user paths. Just add the usual /bin /sbin and /usr variants of these. That way an unknowing user would be less likely to run into the issue you're describing.

I personally prefer not having comments at all in personal blogs. Tho the sytem seems robust and comprehensive, would be useful for those who want to incorporate comments in blog posts or support pages. An immediate criticism is that the

I don't really understand why the use of goto is to blame there. If it was not a double goto but a double return, that'd still lead to this bug, no?

I'll try, thanks, but I did restart it again... I was able to recollect some of the tabs via remembering them and searching through recent feeds and emails. Some importand to-be-read stuff are gone though.

Tabs are ephemeral. I just lost all my tabs after restarting Firefox to free up some memory, even though I set it up to restore them: https://www.gkayaalp.com/blog/20180326_quitting-firefox.html . Be careful using the

The best other service: a mailto: link. People do write e-mails on posts they like, sometimes. Also, 9 out of 10 comment threads under blog posts I've read are just plain stupid logorrhoea. Maybe a subreddit would work too?

Not only the algorithm. Recently, using double quotes or plus sign before terms became useless, as it just lists results with the specific word you marked crossed over when there are not much exact hits.

Guardian is a lovely newspaper. I particularly like the Long Reads, almost always interesting. They have a mailing list for that, and also a weekly news one, both just full of nice, useful content.

Copyright is a menace to the society. Authors should maybe have a right on their work similar to what 2-clause BSD licence gives: if you reuse or distribute this, mention me please. The complex web of influences on each word spoken and ea

What social network is not a glorified RSS feed with one or more means of messaging bolted on (including "likes" and "+1s" and "favs" and "retweets" and whatnot)?

RSS is the best thing ever, period. I've found no other ways to follow websites online that even slightly improve upon it. And count in that anything from stuff like Flipboard to Twitter and similar.

I only use whatsapp, it's end to end encrypted and data's kept on the device. I'm fairly sure my whatsapp messages are private enough, although I'd be happy if I was informed should that not be the actual case.
