getcoleman.com is really funny, made me laugh, but hire? I don't think so.

by gkya 9y ago
I don't want to sound dismissive, but if I was hiring, I woudn't even read this one. Not because it's ugly, but because you're supposed to produce sth. I'll read but not helping even a little bit about that.

You can just list them as a list of keywords somewhere.

Just objectively and briefly describe yourself. Don't try to "market" yourself, or talk too much about your personality and other abstract stuff. An example would be: saying "I'm a CS grad, looking to do ..."

My first (and only) programming job I got it with a plain text resume appended to my application e-mail. All I had to list was a couple links to my github and my blog. Was a uni drop-out (from a history course...). I wouldn't advice

Sometimes people surprise you, no? Just giving a chance for them to do that is quite nice.

On a mailing list discussion on whether or not to add a study to a version of software put out online for testing? You're being ridiculous.

Firefox is open source software. They can not control every single person distributing their software. That PPA is probably maintained by volunteers or Ubuntu folk.

Firefox profiles are a hard thing to discover. When you start Developer Edition Firefox up by default it starts in its own profile. I'd guess Nightly does the same too. Regardless, it'd be nice of Mozilla to make profiles more

Your profile has no links, it there any page to follow what you're doing, or are you developing it offline? Anyways, I'd love to be able to follow news about what you're on to, it sounds really exciting!

I'm not sold on "tweet" either. It sounds childish and weird. I'd rather have "X posted on Twitter/Mastodon/whatnot where he said ...".

A contradicting practical example is the situation with legal brothels in Turkey. The goverment wants them shut but the women working there wants them kept open, because otherwise they have no option but to go underground, and then they lo

Isn't it like quatre-vingts and ten, eleven, etc?

by gkya 9y ago
Well I hope they'll add a way to whitelist for that. It's unfortunate that we need whitelists and blacklists for everything. As an irrelevant rant, I can say that I miss xombrero so much. It was so nice being able to have all y

That's nearly exactly how german works, 428 is "4-vier 100-hundert 8-acht and-und 20-zwanzig", 512 is "5-fünf 100-hundert 12-zwölf" (excuse my rusty german). The und thing is a germanic thing I think.

In french it's base ten only. AFAIK it's just the names, particularly in France, that are a bit confusing. I don't think francophones think of quatre-vingts as 20 20 20 20, but as 80. Just like english is not base-12 becau
