I'm having trouble seeing how this is different from Lisp's S-expressions. Is it basically paredit for blocks and logical constructs in a non-lisp context?

I think the techniques discussed here have value, pedagogical and otherwise. Perhaps one is working on a codebase where we don't have the luxury to move to pypy or similar (e.g., my current one which uses some incompatible libraries,

Thinking about the future of one's career seems like one of those things that Everyone has been telling us to think about, in some manner, for our entire lives: - "Keep fresh on skills, because future career needs will arise (at t

I don't think there are very many "real world" problems that you CAN solve in Lisp, and CANNOT solve in Python. Anything [0] you can write in Python, you can likely solve in Lisp, probably in similar line count (without macr

Absolutely. I'm happy to `apt-get install` something, but the conceptual overhead of "let me configure a $language development environment" is high enough that I'm not going to bother just to install this awesome lookin

I concur, with the slight modification: s/current/any/; Not only that, but any bill that successfully passed could, given past history by several presidents, be effectively ignored via executive order.

Given that our civilization(s) have nearly always behaved that way when colonizing places, why should we assume that aliens are more "enlightened", and will see us as anything better than we've seen "native savages"

In contrast, I never use `git stash`. Never-ever-ever-(ok-rarely). It bit me HARD early on, so I prefer to do it manually, or rebase branches. One thing I really like about git is that it lets me be mindful of my actions in a way that hg di

Note also: The github event feed appears to be public, so people have often had bots listen automatically for keys for exploitation. I recall reading (earlier this year?) about how someone had some $Ludicrous AWS bills because of this.

I'm not a fan of pre-commit hooks (as I'd rather write it, lint it, fix-rebase-it), but I love having a CI suite that includes the linting tests that our team has agreed on. It lets me code away and lint things when I'm read

It's interesting to be reminded in little ways of the importance (and all-or-nothing nature) of opsec. It's something most of us don't really think about, since we tend not to consider ourselves as having a reason for it.
