Because in my use cases they are? Coding and math, science research are my primary use cases and codex with o3 and o3 consistently outperforms others in complex tasks for me. I can’t say a model is better just to appeal to HN. If another mo

Having tried both I’d say o3 is in a league of it’s own compared to 3.7 or even Gemini 2.5 pro. The benchmarks may show not a lot of gain but that matters a lot when the task is very complex. What’s surprising is that they announced it last

Cursor/Windsurf or other IDEs are not the right comparison. I do use them all the time and I don’t see them going away anytime soon or may be never. As for the use case of “Give a simple or detailed prompt and the entire project and le

Can’t wait to try this! Codex and codex cli are the best from what I have tested so far. Codex is really neat as I can do it from ChatGPT app.

The blog post lacks lots of details and sounds more of a marketing piece and “Try this!”. They did not release the evals, a very basic architecture flow which is not novel nor any real world benchmarks that says how it worked expect some va

I’ve been noticing this a lot too. Dunk on companies and products and blindly glorify other companies and product (emotional rather than objective)

Codex with o3 worked much better for my projects than Claude code. Plus it’s open source so I can switch models easily.

Its funny to see benchmarks where they omit the top performing models like O3 (Which is the best model in many benchmarks currently) and Gemini Pro/Claude 3.7.

Agreed. O3 is the best model out there for the tasks Ive tried and coding is a fair chunk of it. Claude 3.7 and Gemini 2.5 pro seems to hallucinate more

This is pretty neat! I was able to use it for few use cases where it got it right the first time. The ability to use a screenshot to create an application is nice for rapid prototyping. And good to see them open sourcing it unlike claude.

As much as I want to geek out and run the things locally, if I have the money I just want to use a SaaS. I want to spend time creating new applications and not toy around with setup, infrastructure etc. I’d gladly pay ChatGPT even more if t

I may be cynical but Zuck saw this happening and entirely shifted to appease current administration. Even having UFC CEO on board. No way they will breakup META.

I got much better results with o3-mini than Claude for coding. Get the high level design wkth o3 or o1 and then use gpt4 or Claude for small tasks.

How much % it’s significant compared to say openai or google? Because if I’m paying 20$ I want other things too not just coding. And if the moat for coding compared to other vendors is not significant, it doesn’t make any difference tbh
