If you're launching a site (or ISP), you will need to register a designated DMCA agent with the US copyright office. You'll then be listed here: http://www.copyright.gov/onlinesp/list/a_agents.html The fee is $35 and there is a form you'l

Small correction: You must comply if you intend to keep yourself protected by the safe-harbor provisions specified in the DMCA. If you do not comply, you then become exposed to liability, though not necessarily guilty of infringement.

Typically when someone "likes" a product or service, that shows up as the ad. For example, my father "liked" Carnival cruises, this makes sense as he's been searching for a cruise lately. The ad showed his picture next to a Carnival ad. It

You might enjoy the fantastic book "Emergency" by Neil Strauss. It's non-fiction and deals somewhat with the "5 Flag" theory.

There are lots of people who would like some of the benefit of the Ycombinator experience but aren't a good fit and don't even apply. For me, I have no interest in getting into the VC sharktank and the projects I work on are so far out ther

Have you considered allowing comments on favors? People might want to discuss solutions they've seen in the past or ask for clarification.

There are a lot of high profile celebrities and brands on Pinterest. You might not be familiar with them if you aren't interested in high profile celebrities and brands to begin with.

It requires a facebook or twitter login. Plus it should have some kind of IP log somewhere. Pinterest won't have the entire identity, but this is how e-discovery works. You keep sending subpoenas up the hierarchy until you get to the ISP. T

Yes. This happened to our site as well. Cloudflare buckled and sent a "sorry, can't handle it" email.

I think this is a great idea. I subscribe to r/dogs on reddit and you cannot imagine the amount of people who ask "should I get a dog?". The answer is generally "yes," but I advise them to make friends so they'll have a list of people to ca

Sorry to be terribly pedantic, but the BBC does not run or produce Downton Abbey. Downton Abbey airs on iTV in the UK.

One of the three cited examples of success in the article - One King's Lane - isn't a fashion/apparel retailer at all. It's a home decor and furniture flash sales site.

Might need a little more context. How much will it cost? What is the deliverable, exactly? Also, might want to make a form that requires more information. For instance, matching someone to a lawyer will likely depend on what state they're i
