And the Channel between England and France is a mere 20 miles at its narrowest point, Ireland is 12 (the UK's nearest EU neighbors). You can argue it down to zero miles for Ireland if you start your journey in Northern Ireland. The sun

Sure, but its not that hard or expensive to hop a ferry/train/plane trip to France or Ireland and buy an unlocked phone, as one example. Any laws the UK passes have to account for the geographical realities of its location. Just b

Your local video store rented PC games? Where I grew up, console games for sure were available in video rental places but there was never a business in renting PC games. I wish there had been!

While these are two common standards, you can easily implement DoH almost anyway you want if you are building a service or device. Its just replying to a request for a hostname record over HTTPS fundamentally - it can be as simple as an e

There's nothing stopping you just making your own REST API and responding over HTTPS that returns hostname records for any service you build or run - it doesn't even need to use an existing DoH standard. These are exactly the sort

While these are all good practices, killing DoH conclusively on your home network is more difficult than you've made it seem, as ultimately all you can really do is use domain blacklists at your firewall. It's no longer as straigh

Serious question: how can we trust that any of these are "credible" as you put it? I'm reminded of the recent disclosure that a "private" Swiss software firm providing encryption software was owned by the CIA and ha

The idea CD-ROM wasn't ubiquitous in the PC industry and consumer desktops at large in 2001 is just laughable, I'm amazed this is still being debated. Do some people just choose not to remember the explosion in the "multimedi

It honestly wasn't during this period. in 2001, computers did not last as long as they do today, with performance doubling often every year to 18 months. Ask anyone who lived this period - by 2001, virtually everything had CD-ROM. If y

I don't feel a comparison to DSLs works here at all. If you are just using plain human language, is a comparison to DSLs apt? The point of DSLs are to provide a deliberately limited-scope language optimised for a specific problem or pr

You shouldn't need someone to fetch you a source - the performance gap is big and well documented in every single review of the 4090 or 7900XTX - hardly much of a surprise really given we are comparing a 999 dollar part to a 1600 dolla
