Even in a FANG you can't just walk to your manager and tell them to get a mainframe so you can play around with z/OS.

This article explains why you can’t travel with only an iPad (and a phone presumably) but doesn’t seem to bother explaining why you can’t just travel with a small laptop and phone. What does the tablet add that makes it indispensable for tr

I have a masters in computer science from Vienna University of Technology in Austria. This gives me the title “Diplom-Ingenieur” (diploma engineer) which according to Austrian law essentially becomes part of my name. I can (but don’t have t

Grew up in EU as well(Austria). When around 13 we’d buy alcohol with the old “I’m getting it for my dad” excuse. (Obviously my dad needed some 4% alcoholic lemonade in the early afternoon) Cashiers didn’t really care. At least back in the 9

DNA has a ~500 year half life. For a 300,000 year old copy of a genome to survive there’d need to be 2^600 copies to begin with.

How can engineers working on this even look at themselves without being ashamed? For the record: I'm a graphics driver engineer myself.

I think I'm reasonably tech savvy and at no time in my life I had a system I could trust to be 100% always-on. No way you could expect average users to run their own service just so they don't miss messages. Anyways it feels sill

Exactly why what? "0.25%" is a lot easier to understand. It's even fewer characters than "25 bps"

This is a tech forum, not a finance forum though. The original article doesn't even use bps. It just says "In support of these goals, the Committee decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate to 5-1/4 to 5-1&

But relative temperature change only makes sense if you use absolute units. I.e. Kelvin.

A 30% relative change in temperature from an avg 20°C/293K would be a difference of almost 100K.
