   I prefer less terse code for readability too. LOC is a decent approximation for complexity but it breaks down when people optimize for it. It's a tricky problem to decide which idioms are most expressive/readable/maintainable

   There has been no write off of debt. The bailout was; Greece was lent money it could not have gotten on the open market. Mostly to pay off debts from bank the Eurozone feels too big too fail ( my speculation ).

   The creditors ( banks ) are part of "moral" game here too. If the Euro cannot handle Greek ( and Spanish , Italian, Portuguese , Irish ) default then members of the Euro must share the imbalance. As an american tax payer it hurt
