Or you can get a brand new N100 mini pc from Amazon for < $150 with 16Gb RAM and a 512Gb SSD (probably cheaper on AliExpress). It's much newer (10nm instead of 13nm+) and can idle as low as 6W. And for GPIO (if really needed) you ca

Afaik, that's a "portable" way to trigger a termination with dump collection :) (particularly on Windows if you just std::terminate you won't get a heap dump unless you do special WER registration and register handlers).

Don't know if this metric means much. I leased 3 Leafs in the past 7 years at ~ $200 / month average. Now the cheapest Leaf was going for $290, so I went with a Kia Niro EV at $350/mo instead (more range, more features). We n

This video was fascinating; I consider myself a competent engineer but I was totally humbled by watching Andreas build this prototype from scratch. The Copilot interaction by itself was just mind-blowing; I have Copilot set up as well but i

Considering it would take 3-4 generations to adopt a new time standard, I'd opt for some kind of "universal time" instead - not tied to one random planet (Earth) rotation speed. Think stardates, but real :)

God damn it. I really like the Windows ecosystem I grew up in. Feel so much at home on Windows; I dislike macOS profoundly, and can barely function in a Linux UI distro (feels like I'm working with one hand tied behind my back). But th

Don't know man, I like my iPhone XS and see no reason to "upgrade"; I'd pay more for a new iPhone than I did for my first car.

I don't know about Copilot specifically, but for Widgets, no matter where you disable them (Settings app, registry, group policy) that only hides the UI entry point, while Widgets.exe and WidgetsService.exe happily continue running in

Not really; I stopped pirating 17 years ago when I started getting a good income in tech. But with all these price increases for streaming services, I'm seriously considering re-evaluating that.

Things like plywood (for furniture) didn't come down in price yet to pre-pandemic levels; hoping they catch up soon. You used to be able to get 3/4 maple 4x8 for ~$50, now it's $85 at Home Depot and over $100 from the local l

I am much more worried about Apple siphoning my data than my Credit Union. Apple is building an ad mega-empire, in big part via abuse of power on their monopolistic platform.

The point is choice. As a consumer, you can choose to only get your apps via the official Apple store, which comes with all the "Apple rules" you want. As another consumer, I prefer freedom and hate monopolists so would choose ano
