I’ve been interested in shell scripting lately and I have to admit that I posted this not because of Joe’s high-level observations on minimalism of architecture, but because of his discussion of a tiny, shell-based system his team used for

I don't disagree with you at all and my reply should not be construed as criticism, but I just want to point out how funny the line, "Vim is how much you want to get out of it," is.

It's amazing that the blurry interstitial text visible between two shelves reads, "We'll help protect you." How did that get past the Orwell filter?

I need a master list of end-user-friendly programming environments with built in guis/tuis, like HyperCard, Tiddlywiki, maybe Jupyter.

Is there a name for small(ish), self-contained programming environments that offer optional but well-coupled guis/tuis? I realize this is a gray area, because someone will point out that Tk and SQLite can be slapped on basically anythi

I try to emphasize that commits should not be thought of as "save points," which seems to be a seductive way to think of them, but as "undo points."
