I realize this is a joke, but there seem to be a lot of people who are really attached to the interpretation of Emacs as a little Lisp Machine.

I’m chiming in because no one has mentioned yet that the $100/yr ACM level includes complete access to Safari. That’s so valuable to me it almost feels like a glitch in the matrix.

I haven’t heard of the business you linked to, but the great books program definitely includes math. That’s how I did the Elements and it was transformative.

Nice observation. I would enjoy a Tao of System Design that coyly smiles and says, The architecture that can be defined is not the true architecture.

I don't disagree with this, and I'm sure I'd promote the talk, but I'd love to see counterexamples. SQLite?

Thanks for the succinct account of irrational impulses, and for the James Scott ref. Can you recommend any particular book of his? My local library appears to have _Against the Grain_ on hand.

Eh, I don't disagree with everything you said, but the essay links to a fascinating article by an anthropologist who spent 18 months with a group of physicists using and developing a modeling system called Fluidity [0] that presents a

Can you recommend any particular tutorial or resource for getting a music production setup like yours going in Linux? Last time I tried was in 2014 and I couldn’t figure out (or find documentation at my level on) wiring JACK up.
