Not even consistent on how it gets today's date. Sneaky. How many days has it been since 9/11? As of today's date, February 8th, 2023, it has been 7,291 days since September 11th, 2001. How do you know today's date? I

This resonates with me. Once our household income hit a tipping point of being financially comfortable and secure we started making decisions on a different set of criteria that optimized for dealing with less crap rather than maximizing in

My passion for tech outside of work extended into my 30s but by late 30s, after having children, it dwindled. It has recently picked back up again in my early 40s as I can view the world somewhat through my children's eyes and their cu

From the article: "Now it was time to call 999. My sister had already had a couple of police visits about the previous incidents, so they knew there was a problem linked to her flat and came round pretty quickly."

I agree. However it is worth noting that the sister had been to the police quite a bit by the sounds of it. "Now it was time to call 999. My sister had already had a couple of police visits about the previous incidents, so they knew th

Just used the iPhone app to purchase an image. Pretty easy experience. Sign in with Apple, pay with Apple Pay was slick. Just one defect when toggling to medium resolution and back to check price difference changed capture area from 25km^2

I have a similar feeling but I've distilled it to something a bit different. I love programming where my human dependencies are motivated, smart and aligned. If any of those three are low or zero the fun can only last so long.

Ugh. Google preview result for “stopping distance at 65mph” is for some obscure vehicle.

by gghffguhvc 4y ago
I guess my point is the safe driving distance is based on something that can’t stop in 0 feet. If something falls off a truck I’m behind I’m not going to come to a complete stop.

I’m guessing Waymo has very little influence over Google. Waymo: “I see you have that hammer, we have a usecase for it” Google: “Ok, but we aren’t changing the hammer or how hard it is to use it”
