If you presume that we will in large part be continually living in a video game of varying levels of immersion relatively soon then this becomes something fairly significant.

Huh? I own my home in the eyes of most people I care about (for example, most citizens and authorities of the United States.) But even within the US there are for example socialists who reject the idea I own my home. They just don’t have th

Don’t shoot the messenger - usually stuff like this starts out being dismissed and laughed at. I don’t own any art NFTs buts not hard to grok the thesis of those who do. It’s not about tulips, just like Bitcoin wasn’t.

Correct, my point wasn’t to emphasize cryptovoxels but provide an existence proof where holding an NFT confers unique rights. There are many others.

No, an NFT is not a pair but a tuple. The third part of the tuple is the third party who issued the NFT. In the case of the Brooklyn Bridge, the NFTs I expect that would confer social status in the metaverse regarding the bridge would be on

No, that doesn’t meet my requirement above. Nothing does, because Meta doesn’t impose the constraint I am talking about: it was a hypothetical example to try to convey to you the dynamics going on regarding NFTs that you seem to think you f

Concretely there are a variety of metaverse projects which only allow you to spawn the item if you own the (creator sanctioned) NFT.

NFTs are considered ownership in nascent online societies. There is no “at large” society. Even nation state recognized ownership in terms of copyright has its limits.

Depends on the context. For example if it meant I was the only one able to spawn the bridge in Meta’s Horizon, maybe? You just don’t know what’s happening.

Unless you own the NFT, you can’t hang up the piece in cryptovoxels. That is ownership.

You’re presuming ownership universally means copyright. It doesn’t. Ownership is as much a cultural norm as a legal one. Owning the NFT, in certain circles, allows you to participate in an alternative cultural norm of ownership, decoupled f

Should they delay the FOIA release until these 330,000 pages had all been reviewed and redacted? I don’t think the answer to either of these questions are “no”, though ofc the standard could vary.

Good critique, but misplaced. Web3 is fundamentally about economic and speech freedom. Simple really. It’s a thesis though, we will see if it proves itself out.

It's hard to say if BTC and ETH are assets, but they do have a very favorable exchange rate vs USD so will go up like other currencies relative to the dollar if sufficiently decoupled. Asset-wise, the crypto analog are NFTs, yield toke

I definitely expect there to be a ton of stable investment opportunities in crypto (DeFi, NFTs, etc.) Of course, the problem is you can't know now which one of these are that vs ones that will go to zero.

Not to mention that servicing these debts is getting more easy with time than before, as the dollar inflates. Not good in general, but predicting a housing crash due to over-leveraging is a bad thesis: people can easily afford to pay their

Yep. Interest rates don't mean jack if there's a bottomless market of buyers who will not use debt and just want to put capital somewhere, anywhere, that will appreciate in a highly inflationary environment. It will be tragic that

"The only way is up" is a bad argument for trying to predict interest rates. There are other ways. First, no change. Second, negative. People have been making the "they have to go up eventually!" argument so long now tha
