Mass mail in voting is a disaster, and people in the US now largely support it because of politics, not because it improves the integrity of elections.

Sure, but it's zero sum. It's a bounded amount of skew in the distribution that's innate in any system that is subject to vulnerabilities that have a high return on violence. This isn't the same as generating people, whi

Fair - I misread. It does seem that you'd need some kind of classic processes and/or auditing to de-risk a scenario where a bad actor who has access to the necessary keys prints themselves money. Maybe there is a way to also analy

Having a proof-of-human system for crypto which avoids storage of biometric data and allows pseudonymous wallets would be a massive win that would change literally everything about what's being developed right now. It's a pretty b

It's not, the point of personhood isn't that it's exploit-free, but it acts as a fundamental rate limiter. Certainly there will still be theft downstream of the verification, but (assuming the approach delivers on the goals)

This is good feedback. They can definitely still pivot out of any issues. It still seems to boil down to if they determine if the approach they're taking will actually work from first principles. You only need it to work once, because

Sounds like you’re saying Elon is lying when he says it’s about freedom of speech and open algorithms. Weird.

I imagine the final standard of skeptics will be that as long as there's any manual driving happening anywhere, autonomous driving hasn't arrived yet.

Should judges be forced to recuse cases based entirely on the political activity of their spouse? Everyone supporting this seems to be saying “yes.” I guess we should apply that consistently then? Does it end at spouses, or extend to childr

Proposing a theory is not the same thing as making a claim. But disparaging people as conspiracy theorists without first understanding the theory doesn't do much but slow down science. There is/was plenty of reason to think omicro

The nature of the benefits and harms of such a thing is highly context dependent. Making an absolute statement like this is basically meaningless without specifying more.

The UAP report debunks the idea that all the evidence the government has has been debunked. Time will tell but the report reversed Project Blue Book, which ruled out non-human technology.

The gimbal video is not a video of the object from the Nimitz incident. There is a video of that but it’s less compelling in terms of evidence, but also afaik not cleanly debunked. (I think it’s called FLIR?)

Uh, I just read the paper and am trying to explain what’s in it to you. I don’t have a strong opinion about the conjecture’s validity. In the time it took you to ask basic questions you could have read it.

You should read the paper. The conjecture seems to be that arrangements of particles of lower information entropy are more massive than those which do not. Weird? Yes. More weird than the weirdest aspects of quantum mechanics? Not in my opi

The OP claims that low information entropy results in an increase in mass. I don't believe the 'state of matter' bit is exactly right, it seems to be an extension to the mass-energy equivalence theorem. (IANAP)

It doesn’t constitute noise if you control for males under 40, especially Moderna. Early on this would have potentially just been data mining, but it’s been replicated and has also led to pulling Moderna for those age groups in some countri

That’s a counterpoint to some arguments like “if it’s March 2021 and you’re 40 you should not get shot one” but not ones like “we should be concerned about vaccine side effects from Moderna” and “if you’ve caught COVID and you’re a 20 year
