This seems similar in aims to the Firefox fork Flock, not sure if Flock is still in active development though. It also seems very “un-Firefox” considering Firefox (Phoenix…) began as a slimmed down Mozilla/Netscape Suite. Maybe short sighte

I’m sure most people support your sentiments, but self-conciously shoe horning Niemöller & Orwell into your arguments like that comes across a bit over the top. Tone it down, less preaching more conversational. You’ll get a better respo

"Helvetica is the font for the rich and wealthy; Arial is the same for the rest of us.” I find this an intriguing proposition, considering that Helvetica was born out of the modernist movement and it’s democratic ideals whilst Arial was the

Arial seems to have been designed as a regressive version of Helvetica, it’s like an interim step between Akzidenz and Helvetica. Non-parallel terminals being the most distinctive, also the influence of the Akzidenz cap R can be seen. In th

Although proportionally spaced electronic typewriters were fairly common place before the Mac. A little myth making by Mr Jobs I think.

I own a digitisation of Unica, acquired many moons ago. It is rather nice. There’s not much more to say, I’m mostly just showing off.

It doesn't surprise me you were a management consultant. You're getting downvotes for repeating simplistic abstracts, without suggesting anything close to a reasonable course of action. "How do we fix this problem?" "Well, all problems can

Did anyone notice the mention of the “auteur model of innovation,” attributed to “John Kao, a consultant to corporations and governments on innovation” which sounds an awful lot like John Gruber's auteur theory of design: http://www.youtub

I found an old Phoenix (ver 0.1) binary a while back, super small and snappy. Didn't even have Add-on support then.

I'm more surprised this is being reported by the BBC than anything. What makes this case any more notable than countless other web-design piracy cases? Is it the Chinese angle?

I think it was David Ogilvy who said anyone who wanted to write advertising copy should spend a year working in direct response marketing. Same principle.

Lots of evidence of Bauhaus quasi-mystic ideas in this test, talking about the 'energy' of a composition, 'visual influence'. All ideas rooted in early 20th century abstract expression, which I suppose are now widely accepted but are by no

Grid systems are a staple of tool in print graphic design, but only seem to have been picked up by the web design community in the last year or so. It seems there is a lot of misunderstanding, grid systems are an invisible structure for lay
