It follows the spam economy. If you can use AI to generate thousands of "articles", some unlucky google user is bound to click on your link. When the price of articles is near zero, it is still profitable.

I did some iphone development around 2010. The interface builder in xcode was pretty powerful. You could set up multiple screens and hook them up to eachother with drag and drop.

When I did the same experiments in win98, the magic color was not bright green but #010000, the darkest possible red. Was this dependent on the OS? Or the driver?

TL;DR: Fixed a bug in the C64 version of Bubble Bobble where the game ends even if you still have credits left. Now it only ends when you're actually out of credits. Did it by patching the raw binary. Also, there is a remastered versio

Yes. I bought a 200€ laptop a decade ago. It was on clearance sale, so no backsies. It was so bad I couldn’t in good conscience ask for more than 50€ when I sold it like 2 days later. It was great on paper. But the quality of the touchpad w

It kind of annoys me when people just adds diacritics to fake swedish/ikea names. They are not for decoration, but makes it a completely different sound. How about the direct translation “snabbsortering”? Or even “kvicksortering”, to m

I’m probably exactly who you would classify as a ”leftist on reddit”. I haven’t seen a single comment on there celebrating.

No developer job has yet been lost to AI. We are in a huge recession, and companies like to have an excuse to fire people that can be spun as a positive.

I just recently implemented my own parser combinator lib in typescript too. It was surprisingly simple in the end. This function parses a number in 6502 asm. So `255` in dec or `$ff` in hex: https://github.com/geon/du

This might be a clearer phrasing: "Parse and validate ONCE AND FOR ALL, instead of sprinkling validation everywhere you need to access the data." But I suppose it isn't as catchy.

Sure. Then you return that validated data structure from the parsing function and never touch the invalid data structure again. That's exactly what "Parse, don't validate" means.

This seems like a really weird stance. Who are you to dictate what language people should use? Why CLIs in particular?

Zig is open source, so the docs are pretty much a wiki. You can spend 5 minutes.

That Zig is pre 1.0 is a given. Not sure how you could take my statement as ”even post 1.0 releases don’t need docs.”

Isn’t the whole point of an external buffer that the function won’t need to allocate?

You can’t expect documentation this early. The new interface was just released.

Yes. For now, that effort is better spent writing clear test cases that can serve to illustrate the intended usage. While tests aren’t quite as good documentation as actual documentation, they are guaranteed to not be out of date.

While sweden has a lot of straight road stretches specifically designed to serve as emergency airfields, it is a lot easier to find 500 m of suitable road than 1600.

Yes, Draken and Viggen are officially named after the kite and the tufted duck, respectively. The names do however carry the other meanings as well. Draken means (the) kite, dragon and male duck. Viggen means (the) lightning and tufted du

Win98 was terrible. I used to reinstall it every month or so, as routine maintenance. Win2k was so much better it's not even comparable. XP had a bit of a rough start, but by sp3 it was a lot better than 2k. I skipped the other windows

It would be awesome if an ai could speculatively refactor sections of code to an exact equivalent where inconsistency stands out more. That way you could find bugs and make actual features more understandable.

Sounds great. I'd like to see more contextually meaningful refactoring tools. Like "Remove this dependency" or "Externalize this code with a callback". And refactoring shouldn't be done by generatively rewritin
