While I agree that the box cat is not a valid thought experiment, just dismissing quantum superposition is not a solution. The double slit experiment (while tangential) shows that discrete events can somehow be connected.

That's a pretty arbitrary definition. And how long time do you give it? The human race haven't solved that problem in some 20k+ years. If we build an AI today, would you wait that long to decide if it is "true"?

You are comparing a 4 yo to an 18(?) yo. Should a 4 yo be allowed to live alone? Drive a car? Date? It is about choice and responsibillity on a suitable level for the maturity of the child. And a parent-child relationship is very different

How are 99 % or 9/10 not precise numbers? And "very rare" was a comment on "99 %", not a quantity on its own. HN is the one place where I expect readers to interpret numbers literally.

At some point, the thermal capacity of the cables will approach that of the brake discs of a normal car. They rarely get hot enough to melt, even though they pretty much absorb the entire braking power. I'd calculate the resistance of

Earth orbit isn't that crowded. And you don't need to spread out. A cube of 100x100x100 m would store plenty of metal, but would not need more safety margin distance than any other satellite.

The metals already being in orbit has a value too. Getting metal up in orbit from earth would cost many times the value of materials.

Some people one youtube speak really slowly, or are unprepared. The 1.25x speed button is great for that. Also, some youtubers speak way too fast. Slowing them down helps comprehension a lot, I find.
