That's interesting. I did drink more water but I did not give any consideration to salt. What's the best way to get that salt balance right?

My impression is that the watch sold mainly because of Apple branding not because it solved a real problem or opened up an entire new market. People are hoping/expecting Apple's next big thing to become a viral hit lke the iPhone.

I experienced this. I never needed to lose weight, always been lean. But I wanted to see if I could reduce my blood sugar since it was borderline high. So I went very low carb for a while. Did not intend to but lost 5 kilos right away and f

I noticed the same comparing Thai 7-Elevens to those in the US. Nearly the same prices in Thai 7-Elevens and Thai supermarkets, whereas in the US there was a significant price difference (from what I recall, it's been a while since I&#

Knowing who is corrupt needs to be more narrowly defined. You will know who is worse when it comes to rent seeking, but not necessarily other types of corruption.

Indeed. You can even cash out bitcoin from a coins.co.th wallet and pickup the cash at 7-Eleven. Thai citizens only, however :(

I'm impressed when someone says English is not hard to learn. I'm a native English speaker now living in an Asian country where I have learned the language. When I view English from my new perspective it seems so much more difficu

If "using technology" means having a smart phone on which you message, check Facebook, hail a taxi, and play games then I don't think there is any correlation. Or maybe it varies by country. I say that because where I live (T

Maybe it's a red herring, but I always wonder how much infrastructure spending that would have gone into surface building (roads and bridges) has instead gone into subsurface building (deep underground military bases and the tunnels co

How is ageism in Germany? Despite being illegal in the U.S. it is blatant in the startup scene.

I read an interesting article (sorry, don't have the linK) some time ago about a man who cleans houses after someone dies in them. The story was quite sad. He talked about the high percentage of jobs that are old people who died alone

A major problem is that since many of the police are involved in the drug trade it becomes open season on their adversaries. Same thing happened in Thailand when Thaksin first because prime minister and declared open war on drug dealers. Th

Thanks for that link. It's an excellent analysis of the actual data from the study. I'm part way into reading it and right away the author has thrashed some of the claims of the original study. It appears that even some of the bas

I'm only seeing the very few times I've signed into Google to upload a video to YouTube. I infrequently use Gmail on my Android but no signs of it in my activity - aren't Gmail logins along with location logged?

This is something I've had a great interest in for years and have read many studies where there is clearly correlation but so many obvious confounders that claims of casuality are just not supported by the data. If the summary of the s

Exactly. If there was strong evidence for causality I would make a real effort to go vegan. But I suspect it's about being thin and having a high fiber diet, which doesn't require being vegan.

Yeah, pretty rough. The examples of asking questions are wrong. Do you have milk? -> คุณมีนม? No, Thai doesn't have a question mark (or any punctuation). The Thai actually says "You have milk". To make it a question yo

Same in Bangkok. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. But like elsewhere if you flag one down they often refuse you if you want to go somewhere inconvenient for them. That's where a taxi hailing app like GrabTaxi is useful. It works like Ube

I think this right here is why some VC's are so rabid about criticism of startups they've invested in. For a while now it's looked like a lot of pump-and-dump behavior.
