It doesn't require any Java but the docs do at times sort of assume you understand the JVM to some extent - which was a bit frustrating when first learning the language. It'll use terms like "classpath" without explainin

If you have a program that looks at CCTV footage and IDs animals that go by.. is a human supposed to validate every single output? How about if it's thousands of hours of footage? I think parent comment is right. It's just a plati

maybe the issue boils down to overloading the term "multiplication". If mathematicians instead invented a new word here, people would get tripped up less (similarly for 'dot' and 'cross' "products") i

that only works if you have a simple app that displays some stuff from a server. if you want to do something actually requires some compute, then suddenly this doesnt work so great ex: youre prolly not going to want to edit images in JS

Yeah the complexity of NetCDF was the ick factor that made me use GeoTIFF. It's just not the level of complexity I wanted to deal with in-program. I didn't want to wade through the details to understand the format, and I didn'

I'm not super knowledgeable about this stuff.. but out of curiosity, what advantage does it have over NetCDF? I wrote a program processing GeoTIFF data. When I had started this project I chose GeoTIFF mostly b/c i wanted something

Big picture, why does everyone scrape the web? Why doesn't one company do it and then resell the data? Is it a legal/liability issue? If you scrape it's a legal grey area, but if you sell what you scrap it's clearly copy

I feel with Valgrind (in C++land) or VisualVM (JVMland) stuff like this is very easy to zero in on. I don't work in JS-land.. but are Electron apps difficult to do performance profiling on?

im trying to get up to speed on this whole area. on a high level how is this different from any other triple-store system? is the difference in the resolver syntax? and a few followup questions - does the runner parallelize resolvers? edit:

My understanding was that if you're doing random access - ZRAM has near-zero overhead. While data is being fetched from RAM, you have enough cycles to decompress blocks. Would love to be corrected if I'm wrong

I think you're mixing things up. People don't need to have the same language at all. Compression can happen by "users" at a higher level when interacting with the data model. The data model itself does not need to encod
