What I liked about this book is that it's very upfront about how messed up C is. I read about half of it and it made me never want to write any C ever again. An especially memorable part for me was how it took 3 pages of language lawye

Thanks for writing this series. I'm really interested in this stuff and I'm sorta writing my own version where I'm implementing the algorithms in lisp: http://geokon-gh.github.io/linearsystems/ (I'm

Man, even a guy on the team felt like WinFS wasn't a great idea... I still think it's potentially revolutionary and that the POSIX filesystem is just old and clunky I think most people would expect /home/geokon/prog

What's a good language to try this out? From the first few pages it seems to be really workable. I could see a good chunk of tailrecursive algorithms map neatly to constraints like nocopy and nodestroy I'm no programming language

Well humans reading your bit of code is not the only end goal. My intuition tells me that when I've refactored something to be simple-but-hard it ends up making more maintainable code. There is less state being maintained, less lines o

The second link is fascinating. I've never come across this algorithm. What a clever solution! I'm a bit unclear on how the "quads" are chosen (ie. which 4 stars are grouped together). I assume your image and the sky-sur

I think this would be pretty easy to do in eshell. Emacs gives you frames already and supports interacting with output buffers (like compilations errors) Its been on my to-do list for a while. I wrote a rough outline and its similar to what

It's been quite a few years since my college networking class, but am I wrong to expect this to just kinda work out of the box? The ESPs can already act as routers and the MAC/IP protocols should already insure packets get routed

Doesn't this clause seems not backwards compatible with GPLv2? At face value GPLv3 seems more constrained - so it's easy to relicense an existing v2 project. You just tell everyone working on it, okay, now every addition we make h

I've got to admit, I'm really clueless about these things But don't we already have a universal byte code with JVM bytecode? Why did the wheel need to be reinvented here? Are there fundamental issues with JVM bytecode that ma
