I appreciate that they start with the stuff they broke and how to fix things Each orgmode version update has been a pain in the past. You have to go through all your org documents and tweak them. It's kind of horrible - so this helps I

Does OLED really give better images compared to a good LCD? I bought a Sony Xperia 5 II - thinking the OLED would give me a better picture - and it objectively looks much much worse than my much older LCD based Xiaomi 5 Note Pro (the camera

Right, you can trim the JDK - that's true but I think the "problem" is a bit more general. I'll give you a more concrete example. I have some small application and it needed to do some basic image manipulation. So I brin

Thank you for clarifying and explaining :) I mixed things up a bit. Guix doesn't have a stable channel but Nix does. Twice a year sounds quite fast - but maybe that's just what I'm used to from Ubuntu LTS. I can't imagin

How does this work in practice with it's "rolling release" nature? Can you designate specific package versions for all your dependencies? Like having a very new openssl and an older zlib version? With complex software, just g

in C++ (and by extension C) you can create very robust crosscompileable projects with complex dependencies trees using CMake + Hunter + toolchain files. There is a bit of learning curve but everything is there for a reason. - Toolchain file

I just noticed you can actually leverage `into-array` at critical parts - if you just need a data collection for quick traversal.

The cheatsheet is very handy! Thank you. I'd completely forgotten about it. I usually end up poking around Clojuredocs, but it's very unstructured and you're just hunting for a function that fits the bill. And yeah, your anal

I mean, I didn't say it's undocumented behavior :) but when the default performance of a basic function like `first` is not O(1) then that strongly suggests that performance is secondary to composability/flexibility (I'm

I've never had to use it myself, but what part of the JNI/JNA is problematic? One thing I'd sorta fantasized about is (in a very hand wavey way) using Clojure + ClojureCL to run OpenCL kernels. In theory if you were to bundle

I think recreating Clojure point by point is not optimal. There is some middle ground between full on Clojure and the straightjacket of the STL datastructures. - Clojure is kinda difficult to reason about performance wise. The lazyness.. so

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, I can see how all these slightly off JVMs can really sour things. Esp. with regards to tooling and development ease. There was a whole era of these not-quite-JVM like things. Like JavaCard also comes to mind (I

that's an interesting point I still think it's a bit visually confusing when you're representing the existence or non-existence of something (the planet is in this region, and not anywhere else) You could in theory do both..

What I like about regex is that it's kinda "cross platform". I always though that one could make a markup (like markdown) based on regex . Then you could almost directly parse it in any language environment. I'm not sure
