Is it controversial to state that many died?

I'm laughing but honest to god I think this could work...somehow.

I hate this line that's repeated all the time because its simply wrong. Osteopathy has its own residencies and the DO is legally equivalent to an MD

you're right. I guess X64 and X86-64 are synonyms, more or less?

Yeah, that was kind of tongue-in-cheek. Apple knows when to leave a cpu architecture. They've done it 3 times already (M68k->PPC->x86->ARM) Though I think we're getting now to the point that we would have gotten to then.

I applaud talos for making fast, modern workstations[0] with an OpenPower CPU. This is probably the best you'll get today for a fast, secure, open workstation. RISC-V is not there yet. 0: https://www.raptorcs.com/conten

I think x64 WAS Itanium. x86-64 is the beast we are dealing with today. In that world maybe everyone goes to PowerPc? The move from 32bit G4 to 64bit G5 cpu wasn't a big deal since the PPC had 64bit variations back in 1997 with the 62

Dex isn't bad. I use it from time to time. It's really not much different from a chromebook. I'd use a dex laptop if it was available.

I have had multiple Indian co-workers (from our Chennai office) test covid positive and get sick. Young healthy people.

Why not just take a taxi or Uber? Or heck, take the hsr from Jacksonville to Miami and rent a car when you get there. No one says airports don't make sense because you cant fly to the office building you need to get to.

Interesting, though I would argue that Florida may be a better comparison than the Midwest. Florida has a higher population density than France and could be served quite well by a hsr line from Jacksonville to Miami with a spur to Orlando&#

Somewhat true. Passenger rail is not seen as part of "infrastructure" on the right.

In practice police are almost entirely legally invulnerable. QI is part of that, and needs to go.

I feel like if you did enterprise Java development for a large company you could get lost in the machine pretty easily. Just keep your head down and meet your deliverables and you should be safe.

We were not, oddly enough. I can't speak in too much detail since I'm not on that team but our region was included so we may just have been lucky

by geogra4 6y ago
We do. Our stack is a fairly standard Java app on an oracle dB. Seems to work well enough. We couldn't get the app to work with azure and aws is a no go (we have retail clients)

I think /e/ needs the Exynos version, which is much harder to come by in the US. Either way, when I'm ready for my next phone i'm going to strongly consider /e/

Not really startup friendly. Their market is almost exclusively the enterprise. "Oh you have office365 and adfs? just move your monolithic enterprise java app to azure and save!"

Proof of work needs to go to the gutter. It was a bad idea to begin with. Proof of stake makes more sense and operates like a bank deposit interest rate

by geogra4 6y ago
The newer proof of stake coins solve this in a much more sane way. Proof of work is going to kill the planet
