I went through this process a few years ago when Apple removed the iPhone headphone jack and I'll probably never go back. The thing that cemented that for me recently was how Apple now insists on notarization for all applications, even

This is a terrible way of handling it. Hiding comments? Flag abuse and ban people. Why is that so hard?

You would have thought the author of this article had pissed in everyone's cereal. There's no way you should be able to click enough buttons in a car to be automatically billed $14k without seeing at least one prompt that says som

It's a "drone" (mostly because the cops said it looked like a drone) until someone gives some sort of proof that it isn't.

I agree with this, but that cop, in that specific case, should have gone to jail.

You're absolutely right and this is what most of the "buy the dip" idiots don't understand.

And, like others have pointed out, teams started working on fixes well in advance of the changeover (~4-5 years with the systems that I was familiar with), but even with the extra money and the extra time, there were systems that were not r

Yes, it was a real potential crisis, and it was only ameliorated because lots of companies spent tons of money testing and reviewing their systems, and fixing bugs that they found. Airplanes were probably never going to fall out of the sky

They claimed for years that they didn't slow down older (1-2 year) iPhones. Then it turned out they did. If the phone was only going to last a year without becoming unusable unless it was throttled, then that's terrible design. If

This whole fiasco is part of what motivated me to move out of the Apple ecosystem. The other part was the abandonment of the headphone jack.

This is yet another reason to move away from MacOS. The blocking of 32-bit apps, a requirement to have Apple notarize every application, and now the removal of kexts. If Apple still made great software and even better hardware then I wouldn

So.... you're saying that the Democratic party needs to abandon its core voters by moving so far to the right that its competing with the Republicans on who can be more conservative? Get real.

Analogies are not infinitely applicable. I don't ask interviewees to be able to replicate a complete algorithm in a language they don't know, but I do expect that they can implement straightforward logic and requirements in some language.

Yeah, you mention it, but I think you're vastly underestimating licensing costs. Hollywood / content producers have them over a barrel, especially now that they're spinning off the DVD business. On top of that, those servers don't run thems
