The author apparently defines 'moral panic' as any negative press attention on a social movement they personally approve of.

I've seen this asserted elsewhere, but I'm wondering what evidence exists that flight hours on leaded planes are _predominately_ due to student pilots?

We're near a small airport and I think of this every time they fly over (which is quite frequently). Essentially hobby aviation is completely stuck in the 1970s and getting the engines modernized would be "cost prohibitive".

If you think of them as roughly interchangeable apparatuses then it starts to make a whole lot of sense in my opinion.

Seems they're ignoring the weight of the fuel/batteries.

I was told, directly to my face by the hiring manager after presumably doing well during a FANG interview: "Why does it always have to be a white guy with a beard". I did take the job, but I've reflected on that moment once i

It's not inspiring to me with the 'cool tactical' framing this article attempts to convey. I've worked as an oncall for a fundamental backbone service of the internet in the past and paged into middle of the night outage

I live near a small airport with a lot of air traffic fueled by tetraethyl lead (avgas). So it seems society hasn't really caught up if it's a rich person's hobby.

Recently read: "Secret Lives Of Colour" by Kassia St Clair which was very interesting from a historical perspective. I especially enjoyed the descriptions of the old chemical engineering (vats of vinegar, urine, lead, etc).

How many people have been arrested historically with just a plain ol' case of mistaken identity (i.e. they just looked alike). Seems like we'd need to know the ambient rate to tell if we're really regressing.

This is also what came to my mind when reading this article. Not everyone is capable of pivoting their life because of dependents and other inflexible obligations. I've dubbed articles and advice like this as "manic pixey tech guy

Did you read the list of fatal dog attacks? I toolk a cursory look came to exactly the opposite conclusion as the second avma.org link did, which seemed to be engaged in mental gymnastics.

Recently spent a night in jail after having a single solitary drink. I suspect (blood results outstanding) that the officer misread .019 for 0.19, which is staggeringly high for a single drink, perhaps impossible. Having that experience has
