It almost certainly uses black ink. All parts produced with the machine they have now are to be black. It technically doesn't use beads, it uses plastic powder. It works exactly as you described though.

The problem is, no one wants to fund solar thermal power. There are worries that advances in photovoltaics might make solar thermal power obsolete over the 30 year life of these plants.

Applied Materials presented a roadmap on how we might get to 3 nm using disappointingly conventional semiconductor processing techniques[0]. In short, you make the transistors tall and thin. [0] https://web.archive.org/web&#

There are much simpler solutions to fighting the robots in the article. One could also score a sensor kill by draping a big plastic garbage bag over it. If one uses a space blanket or something that absorbs RF, one would disable it too. The

Well if the US does go to war with Saudi Arabia, I hope it's an economic one. Stuff like funding electric cars and clean energy to cut off Saudi Arabia's oil money. But that's probably not going to happen.

Do you have any examples of these? Lattices and gradient structures are cool, but the problem is it's difficult to actually make these structures. 3D printers can make these structures, but they only accept data in B-Rep. Not to mentio

OpenCascade is pretty much the only open source CAD kernel. There is brlcad, but that can only do CSG. We tried parasolid, then we got forced into using ACIS. We didn't really end up with much of a complete product in the end as this w

It's glasses free as long as your head is in the right place. The nintendo 3Ds uses this tech. Microlenses also enable stuff like light field cameras and light field displays. Particularly cool in this area is NVIDIA's near eye li

I worked on a project that used the OpenCASCADE CAD kernel, and our conclusion was that it still has a ways to go. We often got errors with boolean operations and the speed of operations was generally slow.

According to another commenter, A9CAD is a 2d CAD software. If this is really the case, you should check out QCAD. It is a nice free and open source 2d CAD program.

You are putting out 100 gigawatts for 2 minutes. One does not need 100 one gigawatt powerplants, just some way to store and release a lot of energy really fast. Second, we have mirrors that can reflect up to 99.999% of a single wavelength o

The problem is getting a compact throttlable rocket engine. While you can throttle solid rocket motors[0], the solid rocket motors you can buy at your local hobby shop would not be very good for this, as they don't burn for very long.
