To be blunt you do not get it from eating cookies in sand. You get it from ingesting pinworm eggs, you ingest them by someone touching their bum (where the worms lay eggs) and then touching something that you then touch and touch your face&

Asymptomatic infestation is very common… no one likes to talk about pinworms but it’s pretty likely any kids you meet have it.

A Junior Dev is not just for Christmas, it’s for life. But more seriously are there CEOs out there who think they can replace the people starting off in their industry with AI? Who do the think will be the senior devs in 5-10yrs?

On the cables I worked on they would use a separate fibre, but power cables tended to overspec the number of fibers massively so was never an issue. Some even have two bundles of fibers. A supplier played whale song they recorded from cable

A note to just be a bit careful passively monitoring ocean acoustics, it’s easy to fall foul of military / security forces, they don’t like anything that can fingerprint a vessel. I worked on DAS acoustic monitoring for subsea power ca

You can do 1GW with a single 525kV hvdc bundle (maybe 300mm across). The market seems to be settling on a 5 cable setup and 2GW power transmission (Tenet & other European TSOs have a 2GW Platform build out…).

I’d really like to see something like blender come for the 3D CAD industry, at the moment it feels like the only people who would lose out are AutoDesk. The amount of money that flows in and out of 3D cad (as subscription and then value cre

I don’t like the friction of forcing a specific messaging app or protocol on people so just default to what everyone is using (WhatsApp) TBH I don’t really get the moral outcry over using it (or any other messaging app).

I don’t think that’s possible with large scale power infrastructure, and specifically grid infrastructure is so tightly regulated. Closest that I’m aware of was TSMC buying the output of an entire offshore windfarm for 25yrs (largest power

Some more context, Nuclear power stations can be up to 2GW, offshore windfarms are seemingly hitting a plateau at ~1.5GW, individual turbines in operations now are 15MW. Grids are already strained, 525kV DC systems can transmit ~2GW of powe
