I've been a member for 25 years (yikes, since it was Brickbay) - I'm not sure why Lego company wouldn't have the resources to handle this compared to the prior smaller company.

> We expect universities to have a pro-truth, pro-reality, pro-knowledge bias And yet they are far from that. Lots of finger-in-ears, "la-la-la-I can't hear you" behaviour from universities in US/west past decade for

Maybe you mean this, but does "fossil fuel" really mean Diesel engines? Those were very awful to breathe around and were widespread in European cities as we all know.

I think it's largely that as this became more of a business, the "yappers" who want to talk things out got more leverage as PMs, etc. It sounds like a caricature, but they honestly seem to get super antsy only typing and sit

Ha same here, I remember bawling my eyes out watching it on TV, to my parents bemusement as to what was the big deal.

Since you took this path, I'd suggest you not have affairs while married. Either divorce now or consider waiting 10 years while your son really needs you.

I'd say it's more likely cheap imports that are the issue.

Yes seriously - I'm old enough to have enjoy reading magazines that had ads throughout them. They were fine. I'd venture to say contextual advertising would be more effective than whatever we've been trying to squeeze out of

Yeah, while I know there's parents who get a little kooky about "MY KID IS GONNA BE THE NEXT ____", anything that gets too expensive or restrictive around what amounts to basically a ball and some grass ain't gonna fly w

I do agree collective action specifically can help, but not via organizing with a modern American Union.

I can only speak for myself, but I think there is a naive idealist view of (modern, American) unions that gloss over the tradeoffs. I don't want another bureaucratic layer that tells me what to do, and run by yet more HR admin-types.

You do, but the issue this helps with is it's difficult to get LLMs to return accurate unified diffs, which are valuable if you are editing some larger text via their APIs. The alternative of letting it send back the entire edited tex

In my case, I don't want to do diff tool on my side as the diff is much smaller to send. Versus the LLM sending the whole file (slowly), just to send it back.

Yeah I'm reminded of the military on this Veteran's Day. You join and you aren't qualified for anything at that point. But they take a chance, they train you, and most rise to the challenge.

Like every person I knew who "went remote" was so they could afford a home . Which they weren't able to do next to office with what you all are paying. It wasn't some digital nomad work in my jammies lifestyle thing.

I hear this, but the fact is a 70% pay cut in the Bay Area would simply not be workable at all. You don't just cut out Starbucks and Amazon junk.

I did not downvote, but I think your comment is a good example of the "Yes We Can't" feeling that I mentioned in it being too hard to change things. Manhattan wasn't exactly easy land to build on either.
