Yes, I have seen the main keyword get boosted in the SERPs when other h* tags are removed. I have seen this on multiple sites. This is not a rare technique and other SEOs do it too. No doubt your page also can get ranked using the normal h-

h1 is an indicator to the search engine that you consider that blurb/content to be the most important on the page. So the h1 should be optimized for the keywords you are trying to rank for. Also, if you have a bunch of h1 tags on a single p

This is an often-heard argument: "Amazon (or other large company) are doing it and it works just fine for them." But you are not Amazon. Your listings may be competing against Amazon's listings, without the brand recognition, trust and back

According to the Google Adwords tool, "stack overflow" is googled 74,000 times each month. Not to mention all the permutations. If I worked for Stack Overflow, I would also try to optimize for more general terms. The questions and answers a

Certainly the individual questions and answers should rank highly. They do a somewhat better job at SEO on those pages, although there still is no meta description tag, leaving Google to guess what to put on the search results page. They co

Everyone seems to be focusing on the .gov site but if you take a look at the Stack Overflow home page, the page that would normally get indexed highly, there is very little telling Google what it is. There is no <meta name="description"

If you aren't familiar with Bob Lefsetz, he used to be with Rhino Records. He started an email newsletter which now gets read by most of the music industry, and lots of others. His writing style is off-the-cuff. He often berates music veter

Anything in an orange box is an infringement of the YCombinator mark? The Aptiverse logo doesn't have a white outline and is a different font, not to mention a completely different letter. There is certainly no confusion for me.

Black magic doesn't work as well as it used to. Most SEO consultants nowadays preach the same things Google does: basic usability, relevant content, optimizing for particular keywords, making it easy for search engines to index your content

This article pretty much sums up my response to this whole mess. The person responsible for PR at Tesla must be tearing their hair out. Potential customers might take a look at this exchange and wonder if Tesla will treat them the same way

That is kind of how the music business worked back then. Less so now, but it is certainly still a part of the entertainment biz. So give Sivers credit for recognizing that and acting, both out of goodwill and self-interest. He demonstrated
