Having said that, I'd add my vote to i3wm, as it isn't as ideologically pure as some others (you still have window titles if you want them, and the layout remains somewhat manual). Plus a rather readable configuration format, eve

You don't give a lot of detail to work with, but my best stab in the dark is that in X by default the font renderer will sometimes use bitmap fonts (and stretch them) when what you really want are vector fonts. You can edit fonts.conf

Microsoft had licensed Java, and had agreed to the terms of Sun's trademark license, including compatibility terms. Google avoided licensing Java entirely, hence the lawsuit.

If I read the changes and commit message correctly, this removes SSLv3 support from the experimental new API that LibreSSL is creating. It does not remove support for the protocol under the existing OpenSSL-compatible API.

Was it Joel who wrote a piece on the old Windows wizard for indexing a help file? It asked a question in a jargon-free way, with the result that neither the novice nor the expert understood what it was asking. In that case the clear solut

Scheme has forms that add bindings to the local scope -- local defines -- but they're similar in spirit to let. There aren't any such functions in standard Scheme, and I don't know of any major implementation that has an

If you have recommendations for books on amd64 assembly -- ideally ones that focus on running under a free Unix stack (Linux, FreeBSD, etc.) rather than a Microsoft stack where the books address such things -- I'd love to see them. I

In modern versions of Python you can declare "nonlocal x", but that's only necessary if you want to assign to x. Since assignment in Python creates a local variable by default, there needs to be a way to tell the byte compil

This is only an obvious improvement if you share certain ideas with the committer: ideas about equality and how grammatical gender relates to it. Those ideas are by no means universal; why should dissent be shocking?
