It really depends on many factors. New grads? Sure, who wouldn't move to Cali from Canada. Married, kids, spouse working in non tech? Well, ya, staying in Canada is a lot better if one earner can get a high paying tech salary that'

It is. They see Apple and their watch amassing lots of data and they don't want to yield all that to them (like Apple's rationale to get into maps).

You can't actually terminate that many people without a planned layoff, according to CA labor law. It's to protect workers from mass firings (at least a little) https://www.shouselaw.com/employment/warn-act.ht

one thing that is markedly different is immigration. Japan has minuscule amounts of immigration, and non japanese blood people can't be citizens. In Canada, at least, they recognize we'd all be old white people without the current

Fixed price is fine if: Not only you understand the scope, but the client does too. Make sure you write down exactly what you're going to deliver in your statement of work, and ANY DEVIATION, CHANGE, or ALTERATION is a change in scope

The story we hear the most is of young CEOs. We don't hear about the 100x failures of those who try the same. PG supports youth doing it because cost of family/personal obligation is lower, which is true, but at the same time, at

Uber is valued more for its potential and growth. Uber is optimizing growth and revenue before it optimizes profit (which could take another decade). See Amazon.

But companies in CA were still hiring, as you mentioned. If the labor pool was flooded with laid off workers, then it's a buyers market. You would think the companies can just hire from that pool for whatever they wanted to pay (cuz in
