Worse, surveillance appliances. Highly likely we'll see mandatory client-side scanning apps in EU soon, and possibly Digital ID stuff in the UK. Great opportunity for mandatory remote attestation and mandatory software.

Tin foil hat time: this is why Google is pushing to kill app sideloading. Mobile phones are the only platform at the moment that can reasonably be used to enforce mandatory software installs and remote attestation. Removing sideloading can

I've wanted to buy a Framework to have a linux laptop for so long, but exactly this issue of battery life is what's holding me back. As soon as Asahi supports TouchID, I think my M1 will become a linux laptop...

I know Linux gets all the love usually, but it's cool seeing new stuff land in the more "classic" *nix OSs nowadays

You _can_ use a standalone YubiKey or similar dedicated hardware tokens as a passkey, but they have limited slots for discoverable credentials. But yeah, anything resembling a phone passkey seems to have a sync fabric behind it.

Android has been surprisingly awesome with cross-platform passkeys (i.e. google lets you use BitWarden/1Password/etc pretty transparently). Anything Apple related is another story... There's some good movement in the linux de

My biggest frustration with Jellyfin is mostly related to using custom or self-signed SSL certs, the clients can't seem to cope with that (especially on Google TV).

I really wish The Lounge supported something like a PostgreSQL/MySQL backend. Having to keep state in files on a persistent volume is a pain for any app, it's so much nicer when I can just connect to a DB _elsewhere_. The *arr m
